It’s time to say goodbye to the tradition of Google’s Nexus smartphones being available in only black and white color options, as the search giant has launched the red Nexus 5 on Google Play, following multiple rumors and leaks that revealed the existence of the new color option in the last two weeks. Like the black and white models, the red Nexus 5 is available in 16 and 32GB storage options. The price also remains the same – $349 for the 16GB model, and $399 for the 32GB variant. Furthermore, Google seems to have launched the red version in almost all the markets where the black and white Nexus 5 has been available, and it’s ready to be shipped in 1 to 2 business days, though how long initial stocks will last remains to be seen. As expected, the hardware remains unchanged. For those who’ve forgotten, the Nexus 5 sports a 4.95-inch True IPS+ Full HD 1080p display, Snapdragon 800 CPU with four Krait 400 cores clocked at 2.6GHz, 2 GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, Wi-Fi, LTE, and NFC connectivity, and a 2,300 mAh battery that supports wireless charging. You get Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box, and as with every Nexus smartphone, you’ll be first in line to get an update to the next version of Android.
