The FDA issued an advisory over specific Dole Fresh Vegetables products earlier last month. While there were no reports of illnesses during the January recall, the bacteria claimed the lives of at least three people late last year. Now additional recalls are being announced and if you have any food products listed below, don’t eat them.
Here’s the backstory
The first recall deals with several products from the Royal Ice Cream Company. Sold in nine states, including MA, CT, RI, VT, NY, LA, FL, TX and NH, a sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. There are no reports of illnesses, but symptoms can include high fever, severe headache and stiffness. The affected products were manufactured in Connecticut and will have the manufacturing plant number “CT121” or “CT#121”. The recalled products are:

The recall from store shelves should be nearly complete, but you must check your freezer to see if you have any products. The FDA explained that Royal Ice Cream would return to shelves once more testing was done.
Recall of shrimp
Shrimp lovers need to take heed as well. Around 20,000 Fisherman’s Wharf, cooked frozen shrimp items are also subject to a recall. Produced by Southeastern Grocers in Florida, the shrimp are distributed across the country – and tested positive for listeria. The label details are:

Fear of allergic reactions
The other food warning from the FDA aims at over 4,000 pounds of Great American Cobbler’s chicken pot pie products. Through an investigation, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) found that the products were misbranded and contained undeclared allergens. The specific product recalled is frozen Creole-style chicken pot pie produced on August 19, 2021, and November 3, 2021.

According to FSIS, the products were sold at Georgia, Wisconsin, and Virginia retailers. While listeria isn’t present in the pot pie, it does contain soy, a known allergen and can cause a severe reaction in some people.
What you can do about it
As with any recalled food product, don’t consume it. Instead, please return it to the store for a refund or throw it out. The same advice is prudent for the Great American Cobbler’s chicken pot pie products. Check your freezer and throw out any items that fit the recall notice.
