Not much is publicly known about the team of editors behind Apple’s News app on iOS, and now The Information has a new report (paywalled) that includes new details on how it operates. According to the piece, Apple’s small editorial staff fields pitches from publications for features using Slack, and the result can be an influx of traffic for publishers. We learned last summer that Apple News hired its first-ever editor-in-chief, Lauren Kern, presumably in charge of deciding what gets featured and what original content to produce....

While Apple is expected to unveil a new Apple TV set-top box at an event next month, its rumored internet TV service will not make an appearance at that event according to a new report out of Bloomberg. The report says that Apple, while it originally wanted to launch its streaming TV service this year, has decided to push the service back until some point in 2016. We also reported earlier this year that Apple’s streaming TV service would likely launch after the refreshed hardware....

According to the report, ’s on track to sell three million phones with revenues around $2 billion. The biggest moneymaker is of course the 128GB xel X with a gross profit margin of 25 percent. The cheapest phone, the 32GB xel, comes in at 22 percent. It’s good news for , though it still pales in comparison to Apple’s $28 billion in revenue it made from selling 45.5 million iones in the last quarter of this year alone....

Razer is a company that has built its brand on gaming peripherals and other devices over the years, but recently it has expanded its scope to include an Android TV-powered set-top box, too. The company has recently divulged several key details about the upcoming box, too, by way of the Consumer Electronics Show happening in Las Vegas, Nevada. First and foremost, Razer has confirmed that the device will launch at some point within the first quarter of 2015, but an exact date has not been penciled in just yet....

Some 85% of business leaders suspect their workers are shirking at home while only 12% of them have “full confidence” their employees are being productive, according to the results of Microsoft’s survey of 20,000 people in 11 countries. As companies begin to entice or pull workers back to the office full-time or on a hybrid basis, Microsoft is spotlighting the emergence of “productivity paranoia” and says business leaders need to get over it because it may endanger the future of hybrid work....

Scott Forstall showed Yelp on Apple’s new Maps app during the opening keynote at the Worldwide Developers Conference last week, but he neglected to mention Yelp check-ins Those using iOS 6 probably noticed this feature in the Maps app when clicking a location. According to Bloomberg, the Apple developer kit, which the Cupertino, Calif.-based Company distributed to software developers earlier this month, visually depicts how the upcoming Apple Maps essentially lets users alert friends of their location through Yelp without leaving maps or launching a new app....

Apple has so far dabbled with a small array of original podcasts, including the For All Mankind companion show and true crime series The Line. However, rumors have persisted that Apple has bigger ambitions in this space as it looks to compete with the growing podcast libraries from the likes of Spotify. Today, Vox Media’s Peter Kafka says that he believes Apple will announce a new podcast subscription service on Tuesday, at Apple’s April ‘Spring Loaded’ event....

The popular lyrics and annotation site Rap Genius launched its iPhone app earlier this year, and today it released a big update. The latest version of Genius by Rap Genius, version 1.5, now lets you create annotations to content directly from your phone. Previously you could only view annotations from the mobile app. The update also adds another desired feature: copy and paste support. Now you can finally highlight lyrics, copy them, and paste them somewhere else on your iPhone as you would expect....

That last one is perhaps the more interesting for ZDNet’s readers, as it’s how you can start to feed aircraft location data into a growing network of tracking stations that uses the GPS locations most aircraft transmit to build a global map of air traffic. This approach, ADS-B, is intended to make it easier for aircraft to locate each other and for air traffic control to keep track of them....

Apple has shared details on this year’s camp program for kids ages 8-12 along with opening registration for the free sessions that start next month. Like last year, there are three tracks to choose from that are made up of three, 90 minute sessions. Similar to last year’s tracks, kids can choose between Coding with Sphero Robots, Beat Making and Songwriting with GarageBand, and Telling Stories with Clips. Notably, this year Apple will be using its Clips app instead of iMovie for the storytelling track....

According to a report from PRWeek, Apple has strengthened its European communications team with the hiring of Rolls-Royce’s director of external comms Josh Rosenstock in a newly created executive position. The report claimed sources close to the situation said the hire was based on “Apple’s desire to grow its corporate affairs capabilities as it becomes increasingly drawn into global regulatory and political issues.” Rosenstock will reportedly join the company in the coming weeks as the Director of Corporate Comms for the Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA) and report to Apple Senior Director of Corporate Comms for EMEIA Alan Hely....
