The Captain America statue was originally unveiled by Marvel at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 to honor the character’s 75th anniversary, before being transported to Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Captain America made his comic book debut in 1941, created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, and has since become a household name thanks in part to the hero’s inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe....

According to a report from TechCrunch, Apple has recently implemented updates to the App Store’s search engine allowing it to compensate for “misspelled queries with small typos” and provide more useful results. The update also reportedly extends to app titles that have spaces in the title: The result will ultimately be better discoverability for apps in the App Store, especially for developers targeting keywords that are commonly misspelled. Apple COO Jeff Williams will reportedly visit TSMC this month for the suppliers 30th anniversary. While Williams is traveling, he is also expected to discuss iPhone X production issues with Foxconn chairman Terry Gou. Nikkei reports that according to sources close to the matter, Williams and Gou will go over how to deal with iPhone X manufacturing challenges as Foxconn is the sole assembler for Apple’s new premium iPhone set for release next month....

There may be bad news for iPad mini fans. A new report claims Apple plans to discontinue the 7.9-inch iPad sometime in the future, which is a claim supported by the lack of updates to the smaller iPad in recent years. BGR cites ‘a source close to Apple’ in reporting that the iPad mini will not be updated again and will instead by phased out over time due to decreasing sales possibly caused by lighter and thinner iPads and modern iPhones with larger displays....

According to a report from USA Today, a source that worked at Apple said a 42-inch “or larger” LCD TV is being worked on and locked down in Apple design guru Jonathan Ive’s workspace. The source claimed Ive’s studio is currently home to “a slick 50-inch TV”. This goes against most recent reports from Asian supply chain watcher DigiTimes who claimed 32- and 37-inch variants were being prepared for a summer 2012 launch....

Just after a note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo this afternoon said Samsung was part of the reason for the iPhone 8’s high price, a new report from Bloomberg says LG’s OLED efforts aren’t going as well as planned. Thus, Apple may be forced to stick with Samsung for longer than it originally had hoped… The report explains that Apple will be stuck with Samsung as the sole OLED display supplier until “at least 2019....

Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) is out with a new report today claiming Apple is now at over 100 million iPhones in use in the US. That means Apple has crossed 100 million active iPhone units since CIRP reported 97 million iPhones in use back in August, according to the research firm’s data. CIRP uses its data to estimate that, of the 101 million iPhone in use during the quarter, around 58 million were iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, 4 million were iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, and the rest previous generation models (as pictured above)....
